The Joy of Becoming Like My Master】
English follows
【Scripture】“The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name. ”Acts 5:41 NIV
【Observation】At that time, the apostles were flogged by the high priest and the leaders of the people, who sternly commanded them not to speak in the name of Jesus. The apostles were humiliated by them, flogged on their backs, and subjected to physical pain. In such circumstances, why were the apostles able to rejoice? The apostles were not focused on acceptance or encouragement from others—they were not looking to what people could give them. Their joy stemmed from the fact that they had been treated just as their Master had been—in other words, the joy of becoming like their Master. Now, do I experience that level of joy every day?
【Application】Unfortunately, the answer is NO. I still long to be accepted by others. As long as this is the case, I cannot become like my Master.I, too, share the gospel of Jesus and sometimes face rejection from others. But it is not really me who is being rejected—it is Jesus Himself. I want to be someone who, like the apostles, rejoices in becoming like my Master when I am persecuted for sharing the gospel of Jesus.
【Prayer】Lord, I still seek acceptance from others. This means I am also afraid of being rejected by them. In this state, I cannot follow You, nor can I rejoice when I face persecution. Please transform me into someone who, even when humiliated or subjected to violence for Your name’s sake, can rejoice in becoming like my Master. 🙏
