THE SPIRIT OF GOD REVEALS HIS MYSTERY TO THOSE WHO LOVE HIM

SCRIPTURE:

“We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” the things God has prepared for those who love him 10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.  The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.  14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16 for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.”  (1Corinthians 2:6—16 NIV)

OBSERVATION:

Paul speaks about two wisdoms and their sources. One is the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. The other is the wisdom of God, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. The wisdom of this age is known by all; however, the wisdom of God has been hidden in mystery from the rulers of this age.

The only ones who can understand this mystery of God’s wisdom are those whom the Spirit of God will reveal to them.  None of the rulers of this age will understand it.  However, as it is written: “What no eyes have seen, what no ears have heard, and what no human mind has conceived,” are the things God has PREPARED for those who love him.

The Spirit of God knows how he loves him and reveals to him the things that God has prepared for them.  People of this age cannot understand or know about it.  The Spirit of God searches all things, even the deep things of God, and what he has planned and prepared for those who love him.  This is a conditional blessing.  This is not for everyone but for those who love the Lord.

The Spirit REVEALED these things that are hidden from the people of this age to those who love God.  What no eyes have seen, what no ears have heard, and no human mind has conceived what God has prepared for all those who love him.  Thus, we can only understand this by the revelation of the Spirit of God.   Those who love God must also be in the Spirit of God to understand what God has already blessed them with.  How will we know the WISDOM OF GOD and what he has prepared for us:

  • The Spirit of God will reveal it.  A natural mind cannot understand.  The Spirit of God has to bring it to us by revelation.
  • The Spirit of God searches all things, even the deep things of God. The Spirit of God knows what is in God’s mind for those who love him, and he revealed that to them. The Spirit searches for the best of God’s intentions and heart for those who love him and reveals it to them. The Spirit is working on our behalf to get the best of what God has in store for us.
  • The Spirit of God will teach those who love him what God has for them and not words taught by humans.
  • All must accept the Spirit of God to understand and discern what God has prepared for them.
  • The Person with the Spirit of God makes all judgments about all things that God has prepared for them.
  • The person who has the Spirit of God is instructed by him to know all things that God has prepared for them.
  • The person who has the Spirit of God also has the MIND OF CHRIST.

This so comforting to know that the Spirit of God in us is the mind of Jesus that teaches us how to always walk in favor of all that God has already prepare for us.

APPLICATION:

I am so encouraged by this note by Paul about how the Spirit of God understands the mind of the Father and searches for all things that he can reveal to me as his child, of all that he has prepared for me.  I am beyond grateful that the Spirit of God is with me to teach me, to guide, to lead, and to reveal to me all that God has prepared for me.  I don’t need to guess God’s plans, purposes, and blessings in my life.  I am determined to be in touch with the Spirit of God daily, so I may obtain the wisdom and the mind of Christ as I journey with him.

PRAYER:

Jesus, thank you for being the revealer of all that the Father has prepared for us through your Spirit.  I ask that you continue to reveal and teach me all that I must do to follow and honor you.  I ask that I may know you more and more instead of just asking for your blessings and favor.  Thank you for your favor in my life.  I thank you that your Spirit speaks to me daily and convicts me of sin and my crooked ways.  Teach me to be a child who trusts you above all.  I look to you daily, Amen!
