God Who Embraces Both Those Who Rejoice and Those Who Mourn】
English follows
【Scripture】“But many of the older priests and Levites and family heads, who had seen the former temple, wept aloud when they saw the foundation of this temple being laid, while many others shouted for joy. No one could distinguish the sound of the shouts of joy from the sound of weeping, because the people made so much noise. And the sound was heard far away.”Ezra 3:12-13 NIV
【Observation】I believe that even when people look at the same thing, they see it differently based on their own experiences, memories, and expectations. When the foundation of the temple was laid, the younger generation rejoiced at the sight of the temple that would be built (the future), while the older generation wept at the sight of the temple they had lost (the past). However, what is noteworthy is that God did not judge those who wept. God accepts the hearts of both groups—our joy and our sorrow alike.
【Application】Even when looking at the same thing, people may rejoice or grieve depending on where they focus their gaze. It is not that looking to the future is right and looking to the past is wrong; rather, both are necessary. And let us recognize that God is the One who accepts both.
【Prayer】Lord, depending on where we look, even when seeing the same thing, some of us rejoice while others grieve. But what matters is the fact that You accept both those who rejoice and those who grieve. May I, like You, become someone who accepts both. 🙏
