How Can I Become a Disciple of Jesus?】
English follows
【Scripture】“In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.”Luke 14:33 NIV
【Observation】I recently reached the age to receive my pension, and I’ve come to realize that the pension I receive from the government will only cover half of my living expenses. Thinking about my retirement fills me with great anxiety. Perhaps because of my upbringing, I’m always plagued by financial anxiety. Maybe that’s why these words of Jesus caught my eye.Out of anxiety, I tend to rely on my own savings rather than on Jesus. But if I’m bound by money, I cannot prioritize Jesus. That is why He says I cannot be His disciple.
【Application】I will entrust all my possessions to God.
【Prayer】Lord, when I think about it carefully, all of these possessions were given to me by You. Yes, they were Yours to begin with, yet I was under the illusion that they were mine, and I tried to hold on to them and control them. I repent. I also entrust my anxiety about the future to You. I offer my possessions to You. May You provide for me in my old age. I trust in You. 🙏
