Wait for the Lord!】

English follows

【Scripture】Lamentations 3:15-18, 21-24 NIV[15] He has filled me with bitter herbs and given me gall to drink. [16] He has broken my teeth with gravel; he has trampled me in the dust. [17] I have been deprived of peace; I have forgotten what prosperity is. [18] So I say, “My splendor is gone and all that I had hoped from the Lord.”[21] Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: [22] Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. [23] They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. [24] I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”

【Observation】Throughout Lamentations, the author laments, groans, and despairs, but in verse 21, he suddenly speaks of hope—even though, looking at reality, there seems to be no hope at all. This is because he is expecting God’s grace and mercy. Rather than focusing on his painful circumstances, the author fixes his gaze on the Lord and waits for Him.

【Application】No matter how painful our circumstances may be, let us turn our eyes to the Lord, place our hope in Him, and wait for Him.

【Prayer】Lord, when we are in pain, we want to run away from that situation. But You are the One who desires that we wait for You even in the midst of that pain. Please make us people who place our hope in You and wait for You. 🙏
