SPEAK THE WORD OF THE LORD OVER YOUR PROBLEMS

SCRIPTURE:

“The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. 2 He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. 3 He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.” 4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! 5 This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. 6 I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’ 7 So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8 I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them, and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.  9 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.” (Ezekiel 37:1—10)

OBSERVATION:

The Lord had his hand on Ezekiel.  His Spirit brought him out and set him in the middle of a valley full of bones.  He led Ezekiel back and forth among the dead bones.  Ezekiel saw many bones on the floor of the valley that were very dry.  Ezekiel was asked by the Lord, Son of man, can these bones live?

The Hand of the Lord and His Spirit are doing the leading.  God always leads us to a place where he wants to show us a vision of something impossible in our own eyes.  It is always about God doing something with us and through us.  It is never about me doing something for God and using him to work our desires through him.

God took Ezekiel in the middle of the valley, full of bones.  God LED Ezekiel back and forth among the dead, and he saw many bones on the floor of the valley that were very dry.  Ezekiel was asked, “Son of man, can these bones live?  Ezekiel answered, “SOVEREIGN LORD, YOU ALONE KNOW.”  God never calls us to do something we can do with our power.

God shows Ezekiel something impossible to do.  God showed Ezekiel an impossible vision.  Whenever God calls a person to an impossible vision, He calls us to trust him.  God hand-picks all of us for certain visions and tasks to fulfill.  These are the principles I’ve learned today when God picks his man or woman for a vision.

  • God calls us to see what he sees and what is on his heart and to have a heart for what He wants to do.  We follow God’s vision, not us trying to have God fulfill our vision.
  • Always know that when God calls us to a vision, HIS HAND AND SPIRIT MUST LEAD THE WAY.  And we must RECOGNIZED HIS SOVEREIGNTY.  God is sovereign supremely, and I must follow.
  • We must not move presumptuously and overconfidently of our plans and ideas; TRUST GOD.  Ezekiel responded in humility when God asked. “Can these bones live?”  What did he say, SOVEREING LORD, YOU ALONE KNOW.
  • God loves to work with us to do the impossibility.  We must be willing TO DO WHAT HE ASK US TO DO.  God told Ezekiel; NOW SPEAK.  Prophesy to the dry bones.  I am reminded that all I need to do is what God says.  Ezekiel was told PROPHESY…AND SPEAK THE WORD OF THE LORD TO THE DRY BONES.

When Ezekiel spoke to the dry bones, things started to happen.  Rattling noise, sound, and the bones came together, and skin started to form, but they were lifeless; God told him to speak again and prophesy breath on them, and an army stood up.

It’s pretty amazing when we do the most straightforward thing God has us to do to make the impossible possible.  If God tells you to SPEAK AND PROPHESY, do just that.  Trust God’s way of solving the impossibility, and don’t try to figure out how it works.

APPLICATION:

I submit to God today to lead and guide me and His Spirit to always work his purpose in my life daily.  I must admit that I often try to figure out how God works in different impossible situations that I have been in, but today, he reminded me to rest and resist trying to figure things out.  I place all my trust in his word.

PRAYER:

Jesus, help me to trust your word.  I thank you for opening my eyes to see how to deal with life’s impossibilities.  Thank you for reminding me to trust your lead and know that you are Sovereign.  I put my trust in you daily.  Amen!
