PRAISE GOD EVERY DAY ENTHUSIASTICALLY

SCRIPTURE:

“I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name forever and ever. 2 Every day I will praise you and extol your name forever and ever.  3 Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.  4 One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.  5 They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works.  6 They tell of the power of your awesome works and I will proclaim your great deeds.  7 They celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.  8 The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, and rich in love.” (Psalms 145:1—8)

OBSERVATION:

King David was always someone who knew how to give praise to the Lord his God since he was a shepherd boy, playing his harp to the sheep.  Giving praise to God is what he does better.  Praise is given during his private times with God.  What a great model of giving praise.  Praise is direct to God the King.  I exalt you, and I will praise your name forever and ever.  David was committed to exalting and praising his God and King throughout his life.  A worshipper of God is someone who has committed the entirety of their life to exalt and praise God.

David not only committed to exalt and praise his God and king forever and ever, but he also did it DAILY.  Every day, he will praise God and extol his name forever and ever.  Forever and ever for David starts EVERY DAY.  Eternity starts today, and every day we live in eternity with God.  Exalt means to glorify, esteem, revere, and venerate.  To extol is to praise God enthusiastically, to heap praises, and to be enthused about him.

How I praise God in my generation will impact how the next generation will glorify God.  Our enthusiastic praises of God will present God to the next generation.  Our praises commend God to the next generation as someone worthy of praise.  If we are quiet in our praise and show no enthusiasm, our praises will not make a difference to the next generation.

Our praises will tell the next generation of the MIGHTY ACTS of God.  Our praises will speak of the GLORIOUS SPLENDOR of how majestic our God is.  Our praise of God helps others ponder the beautiful works of God.   The power of praise is NOT only in singing but in telling and speaking of how good God is daily.  David exalt and extol God daily in his private and public life.  The question is, HOW VOCAL ARE WE IN OUR PRAISING OF GOD’s great work in our lives?

The praising of God should fill with enthusiasm from our hearts when we sing, declare, and talk about it in life.  How enthusiastic are we to praise God for his goodness and grace?  Let us ensure that we are excited in our praises of our great God.

APPLICATION:

I will continue to remind myself to be enthusiastic about my praise and worship of God. I cannot be lazy nor lack the enthusiasm to praise God, who is worthy of my praise and worship.  I want to exalt and extol him daily.  Every day, I want to rejoice in the goodness of Jesus.

PRAYER:

Jesus, you are worthy of my praise and worship.  Please help me to be enthusiastic in my worship of you.  Please help me to praise you daily.  I want to commend you as you deserve.  I want to rise in my soul every day to see your goodness and greatness. Please move in my life and make me someone enthusiastic about exalting and extolling you.  I give you all glory and honor for all your goodness to me. Amen!
