TITLE: LET JESUS OPEN YOUR EYES SO YOU MAY SEE

SCRIPTURE:

“They still did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight until they sent for the man’s parents. 19“Is this your son?” they asked. “Is this the one you say was born blind? How is it that now he can see?” 20“We know he is our son,” the parents answered, “and we know he was born blind. 21But how he can see now, or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. Ask him. He is of age; he will speak for himself.” 22His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who already had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue. 23That was why his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.” (John 9:18-23 NIV)

OBSERVATION:

The man born blind struggles with the religious leaders questioning his identity and the miracle that happened to him.  The religious leaders questioned the blind man, but his answer did not satisfied them.

The religious leaders brought in the man’s parents and questioned them as well.  They asked the parents, is this your son?  Is this the one who was born blind?  How is it that now he can see?  Who opened his eyes?

The miracle of that happened to the blind man was not done in a dark secluded corner.  It was done in front of many witnesses.  There were the man’s friends who saw him blind from birth.  There were people who saw him begged along the way.  There were the disciples who saw what Jesus had done for this blind man?

Yet the Pharisees, choose not to believe but to investigate.  They were not investigating the evidence to believe but to disproved Jesus.  They did not want anyone to believe that Jesus was the Messiah.

What more evidence doe anyone need to believe in Christ?  There were the witnesses of this young man who knew he was blind.  There were the people who were present but saw the miracles and doubted if that was really him.  There were the disciples who ask Jesus if what the man was going tbrouh was a result of his sins or the parents sins.  There were people who saws Jesus spits into mud and rub the blonde mans eyes with.

But no amount of miracles will ever be miraculous enough to convince people who are already made up their mind to try to disproved who Jesus is.  No amount of

How many good works of Jesus will be enough for us to believe?  How many other people’s testimony that we hear will be enough for us to affirm and confirm our faith in Christ?

Unlike the religious leaders, I am reminded to investigate and believe the evidence of Jesus’ miracles rather than investigate to disprove what Christ has done.

I am grateful for this reminder, to see all that Christ has done in my life and give glory to God for his marvelous works.  He has done so much in my life for me to deny his presence and works in me and through me.

APPLICATION:

Today, I am grateful and reiterate my desire to believe all the miraculous happenings that Christ has wrought into my life.  I want to know more of his power to perform miracles in my life.  I acknowledge like the blonde man, when he said, All I know I was blind but now I can see, and it was Jesus who did it.

PRAYER:

Father, please open my eyes to see all the miracles that you have wrought into my life.  Help me never to forget the things that you have done and are still doing in me.  Teach me to trust in you and to acknowledge you in everything that I do in life.  Thank you for all the miracles that you have blessed me with, in Jesus name, Amen!
