Goodbye, Mr. Law!】
English follows
【Scripture】“[24] So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. [25] Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.Galatians 3:24-25 NIV
【Observation】In those days, wealthy people chose guardians for their children from among their slaves. The guardian’s role was to care for the children, discipline them, take them to and from school, and provide general support for their daily lives—a temporary arrangement that naturally became unnecessary as the children grew up.The role of the Law is to convict those who claim they have no sin, and to stir up a desire in their hearts to seek Christ so they may be redeemed from that sin. In other words, the Law serves as a guide leading people to Christ, and once a person comes to Christ, its role is complete. The Law never had the power to save anyone in the first place.
【Application】I no longer need the Law as my nanny. That’s because I am already with Christ. Even if the Law cries out, “You are a sinner,” I will say, “Thank you for bringing me to Christ! I’m grateful to you. But now, goodbye!”From now on, I will follow the Holy Spirit.
【Prayer】Lord, the Law is for those who claim they have no sin; we who believe in Christ no longer need it. Lord, may all Christians—myself included—after believing in Christ, hold fast not to the Law, but to the Holy Spirit given to us through our faith in Christ. 🙏
