Like a Person Set Free from an Evil Spirit】
English follows
【Scripture】[19] Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” [20] So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.Mark 5:19-20 NIV
【Observation】In our devotion two days ago, we learned that the man healed of leprosy did not follow Jesus’ instructions and instead hindered His work. The man who had been delivered from an evil spirit by Jesus wanted to follow Him, but Jesus did not allow it. Instead, He commanded him to return to his family and testify to how God had shown him mercy, and the man obeyed.Herein lies the foundation of the witness we are called to give: to understand how great a thing God has done for us and to share that with others.
【Application】Even if I want to give my testimony, I cannot do so unless I have actually experienced it myself. I must deeply understand just how great a thing God has done for me.
【Prayer】Lord, I think I understand how great what You have done for me is, but in reality, I do not. I can tell this because I am not testifying about You. May I, like the man who was set free from this evil spirit, come to know deeply what You have done for me and boldly testify about You. 🙏
