【9/18 幼子のような信仰を与えてください。September 18th: Grant me Faith Like That of a Little Child】

【御言葉】18 ザカリヤは御使いに言った。「私はそのようなことを、何によって知ることができるでしょうか。この私は年寄りですし、妻ももう年をとっています。34 マリアは御使いに言った。「どうしてそのようなことが起こるのでしょう。私は男の人を知りませんのに。」ルカの福音書 1章 18, 34節

【観察】ザカリヤもマリアも御使いを通し、神からのメッセージを受けた。ザカリヤは高齢にも関わらず子どもが与えられる、マリアも処女なのに子どもが与えられると御使いから言われた。しかし、ザカリヤは神の言葉を信じなかったので口がきけなくなり、マリアは何のお咎めも受けなかった。2人にどんな違いがあるのだろうか。それはザカリヤは印を見なければ信じないという不信仰があり、マリアは子どもが生まれるにしても、どんな方法で与えてくださるのか私には分かりませんという告白だったからだ。

【適用】私は神様に信じられないようなことを言われた時、素直に「はい、主よ」と言うだろうか、それとも「主よ、本当にそれがあなたからのものなら印をください。」と言うだろうか。残念ながら、私はザカリヤである。私はマリアのような信仰がほしい。

【祈り】主よ、私はあなたから語られた時、大体「印をください。確信をください。」と祈っていた。しかし、それは不信仰の表れでもあったのだ。主よ、私にもっと幼子のような信仰を与えてください。🙏

【Scripture】18 Zechariah asked the angel, “How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years.”34“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?””Luke 1:18, 34 NIV

【Observation】Both Zechariah and Mary received messages from God through angels. The angel told Zechariah that he would be given a child despite his advanced age, and told Mary that she would be given a child even though she was a virgin. However, Zechariah was struck dumb because he did not believe God’s word, while Mary faced no reproach. What was the difference between the two?It is because Zechariah had unbelief—he would not believe unless he saw a sign—while Mary’s response was an admission: “Even if I am to have a child, I do not know how You will grant it to me.”

【Application】When God tells me something I find hard to believe, will I humbly say, “Yes, Lord,” or will I say, “Lord, if this is truly from You, please give me a sign”? Unfortunately, I am like Zechariah. I want to have the kind of faith that Mary had.

【Prayer】Lord, whenever You have spoken to me, I have usually prayed, “Give me a sign. Give me assurance.” But that was also a manifestation of my unbelief.Lord, please grant me a faith more like that of a little child. 🙏
