TITLE:  GOD ALWAYS CALL US TO DO THINGS GREATER THAN OUR ABILITIES TO DO THEM

SCRIPTURE:

“The word of the Lord came to me, saying, 5“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”   6“Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”  7But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.  8Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.  9Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth.  10See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”   (Jeremiah 1:4-10 NIV)

OBSERVATION:

            The word of the Lord to Jeremiah is very well the word of the Lord to everyone of us.  The plans of God for our lives was before he had formed us.  Every details of my life and yours was on his mind before he formed anyone of us.  I wonder at times how many believers really believe this statement.  I wonder how many believers take this to heart that they have been on God’s mind before they were created.

            The Lord said to Jeremiah these affirming statements saying before you were born;

§  I formed you

§  I knew you

§  I set you apart

§  I appointed you…to be a prophet to the nations.

Jeremiah like many did not see themselves as God sees them.  Jeremiah responded to the Lord, Alas Lord,

§  I do not know how to speak

§  I am too young

Amazingly that so many times our we are afraid of God’s plans because our own plans are drawfs in comparison to what God lays out for us.  God always have a plans for our lives that is way beyond our own abilities to fulfill it.  God has never called us to do anything that we can do, but called us to do things that we cannot do it on our own strength but his.  God said to Jeremiah, stop thinking small. Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.  Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.  Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth.

When we trust God’s calling in our lives, and walk in his plans, he will equip us with what we need to fulfill and do the works he called us to.  God will equip us with courage, anoint us with his Spirit, put words in our mouth, and send us forth.  For God to use us, we need him to touch us, and put his word in our mouth and appoint us to fulfilll his calling.

APPLICATION:

            I am reminded that unless I follow God’s plans for my life, I will never see his power manifest in my life.  I will continue to seek out God’s purpose of his calling in my life and submit to his will.  I want to be courageous to do the things that are beyond my ability to do by trusting in God’s leading.

PRAYER:

            Father, please help me to continue to obey the plans that you have for my life.  Please help me to walk the pathway you have planned out for me in order to fulfill your purpose in my life. I want to trust you with my whole life no matter what the challenges are.  I want to honor you with my life.  In your name Jesus, Amen!
