GOD CARRIES YOUR BURDENS DAILY

SCRIPTURE:

“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. 20 Our God is a God who saves;  from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death.  21 Surely God will crush the heads of his enemies, the hairy crowns of those who go on in their sins.”  (Psalms 68:19—21)

OBSERVATION:

King David penned these words expressing his utmost gratefulness to God for him and his people.  David and his people face many perilous moments in their journey.  David has seen how vicious his enemies are.  David also saw that many of his enemies who were coming against him were also enemies of God.  In spite of all the fearful moments David faced with God’s enemies, he found a moment to praise God for who He is and what he has done for him.

During challenging times, it’s easy for our surroundings to consume our thoughts. However, as believers, we are called to a different focus. Unlike those without a relationship with Jesus, we are urged to shift our attention from the problems and challenges we face, and instead, turn to God.

Life is a warfare.  In fact, life is a spiritual warfare.  We cannot afford to focus on what is happening and forget to keep our focus on God.  David finds time to PRAISE the Lord in the midst of his challenges.  King David turned to praise.  There is something happening to us when we magnify God in the midst of our problems rather than magnifying our problems.

He said PRAISE be to the Lord, to God our Savior.  Acknowledging who God is will sift and shift our perspective about what we face.  David acknowledges and praises his Lord.  To David, the Lord meant He had all the power, authority, and influence over his life and situation.  Lord means God his master and in control.

Not only is the Lord his God, but He is also his Savior.  He will save and deliver him from all God’s enemies who have become David’s enemies as well.  That is who God is to David.  God is always available and able to be there for him at all times.  David listed out things that caused him to PRAISE God.

  • HE DAILY BEARS OUR BURDEN…God carries our burden. God has the power to give us rest when life is stressful, to save us from perilous situations, and to keep Satan’s work at bay so he won’t harass us in life. God bears our burden daily. Our God never leaves us nor forsakes us.
  • OUR GOD IS A GOD WHO SAVES…Amazing declaration of our God who saves us from the traps of Satan and evil people in our lives.
  • OUR SOVEREIGN LORD COMES OUR ESCAPE…God is our escape from temptation. I must learn to run to him. He is our tower of refuge, a place where we can run into and be saved.  He makes a way where there seems to be no way.  He is our safe route out of troubles in life.
  • GOD WILL CRUSH THE HEADS OF HIS ENEMIES…God will deal with his enemies.  Jesus said people don’t hate us but hate him who is within us.  So God’s enemies are our enemies.  We leave the battle to God to avenge our enemies.

What a joy to be reminded that God daily bears my burden.  He comes to my rescue and saves me. God, who is sovereign in my life, is my escape.  God is the one who fights my battle with me.  It gives a great sense of security.  Like David, it is good to make the praise of God a daily practice in my life.  We must express gratitude at all times.

APPLICATION:

I am grateful for the remainder from King David today to make praise a weapon in my mouth against the enemy and his work.  I want to make praising God a continual practice in my life.

PRAYER:

Jesus, you are so worthy of my praise.  I ask that you teach me how to praise you and draw deeper and closer to you daily.  Let your praises me continually be in my mouth. I ask that you keep me focus on you and not on what I am surrounded with.  I look to you today.  I praise you for who you are in my life.  I say today that you are my God who daily bears my burden.  You are the one who saves me.  You are sovereign in my life.  You are my way of escape and the one who crushes my enemy.  In your name Amen!
