KNOW WHO YOU ARE

SCRIPTURE:

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.  14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”  (Matthew 5:13—16)

OBSERVATION:

            Jesus words to his disciples were, YOU ARE the SALT of the earth.  YOU ARE, the LIGHT of the world.  These two things SALT AND LIGHT are both influencing agents in its right spheres.  Salt influences whatever it touches.  It bring preservation on things like meat and fish.  Before there were refrigerator salt helped preserved such items.  Salt also is a healing agent.  But it also causes corrosion on metals.  Light is also an influencer agent that shines in the darkness.  Light is much needed in all areas of life. 

            Light that channels into a laser beam that can also cause damaged.  Jesus declared his disciples saying, YOU ARE salt and light.  YOU ARE not to loses your purpose and assignments.  YOU ARE not to lose your saltiness or be hidden.  All who follow Jesus is called to be and influencer who do GOOD.  The disciples ought to be leading and influencing the spheres that we are in.  We are called to be agents of GOOD, living out the life of Jesus.  Our aim is to do GOOD WORKS for the glory of our Father in heaven.  We no longer exist for ourselves.  We now exist for the glory of God.  Everything we do, everything we say, and everything we are involve in MUST BE FOR THE GLORY OF GOD. 

            We are called to influence the world around us and the sphere that God placed us.  Whether be it at work, among friends, with families and whatever the sphere is, we must never forget  WHO WE ARE.  So many times, we are being influenced by the world and the spheres that we live in, instead of us influencing the world.  When we don’t know who we are, then we are then, rendered ineffective, push to the side, and trampled underfoot by the world we live in.  Influencers are NOT hidden people; they are leading people. 

We are influencers to do Good, in our marriage, in our workplaces, with our responsibilities at home, with our children and wherever we are.  We are to influence every sphere we are in for the glory of our Father.  If we are not influencing then we are unable to give God the glory he deserves as he works in our lives. 

APPLICATION:

            Jesus call me to be an influencer and a preserver of life in the spheres he has placed me.  I am called not to hide, nor negate my responsibility but to rise and make a difference.  I know sometimes I forget who I am.  Today, I will continue to strive to be the influencer that Jesus has called me to be.  I want to give glory to my heavenly father by doing the best with what Jesus has gifted me with.  I want to do this daily, to shine and be the salt that preserve and bring healing to others. 

PRAYER:

Jesus, thank you for reminding me to who I am supposed to be.  I ask that you continue to help me be the salt and the light in this nation among the people who have called me to minister your goodness.

Please help me not to shy away nor negate my responsibility to the salt and the light everywhere I go.  I want to be your child that brings glory to your name.  Help me to do good works that honors and glorify you.  Amen!
