“Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. 11 They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. 12 Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury because he knows that his time is short.” (Revelation 12: 10—12)

John heard a loud voice in heaven saying, revealing a challenge believer faced with the one who accused them before God was dealt with. The accuser is Satan himself, who constantly accused believers before God 24/7. The devil doesn’t go after those who belong to him. He goes after those who believe and are walking with God. This is part of the spiritual warfare struggle that believers face daily. The devil never rests nor takes a vacation when it comes to believers.

Most believers don’t realize this about Satan’s warfare against them. They are being accused before God daily. Thank God he knows who is his. People may say that they are believers, but Jesus knows. The apostle Matthew made it clear, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father.” Believers must be aware of the battle that they face daily. The devil is causing many to lose their trust in Jesus.

Satan will not defeat believers. We will overcome the spiritual battle that we face daily. We are made more than overcomers and conquerors in this world. John wrote about how believers will overcome the devil. We will overcome Satan not by our power and might but by the power of the Messiah who is with us and in us.

Not only is Satan defeated by the Messiah who is with us and in us, but he will also be defeated by triumphing over him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. It will be difficult for believers to defeat the enemy without the testimony of God’s works. The spiritual battle is real, and we have the weapons to defeat the enemy. Though this is the scene in heaven, it is also the truth that Jesus taught his disciples on earth that they will tread upon serpents and scorpions, and none will harm them.

Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever; this same truth will remain unchanged. One key element in overcoming Satan’s work in our lives is for believers not to love their lives so much as to shrink from their challenges. Our weapons, first the blood of Christ, are used against the devil. Satan does not like the blood that was shed for the sin of the world because it renders him powerless. He could not stop God’s plan of salvation, and secondly, the word of our Testimony of what Christ’s work on the cross meant for us. It is a privilege to be covered by the Blood of Christ daily. This is a powerful truth.

I am grateful for this reminder that the blood of Christ covers me and that the testimony of what Jesus is doing in my life is more potent than the power of Satan against me. I have been made aware of the tactics of Satan accusing me before my father daily and know that he is powerless against my God. I will remind myself to be mindful of Satan’s tricks and never shrink from them because of fear. Greater is He that is in me than the devil in the world.

Thank you for your blood that covers me. Thank you for my salvation that you purchased by your blood. I am grateful that you made me whole and forgiven me of my sins. I pray that you continue to give me the courage to face the devil and his temptations daily and never to shrink back in fear. I pray that you continue to cover me, and may your testimony become a powerful tool in my life against Satan’s work. I ask that you empower me with your Holy Spirit to confront the enemy’s work without fearing him. Amen!
